In much the same thread, think of Labradoodles.
They have a general look, certain characteristics, and are widely known.
They are made from recognized breeds.
Ask a person what breed their labradoodle is, they will say labradoodle.
So really the question is in the public, not in the papers.
Are EE a breed? Depends on who you ask.
Are labradoodles a breed? Same answer.

....it's important that we spread the news that 'Americaunas' are actually Easter Eggers...

Just for clarification it is ‘Americana’ that are actually Easter Eggers.

Americaunas are a recognized breed.

The other terms are marketing names for Easter Eggers that are usedby farm stores and some lesser hatcheries.

"Ameraucana" ;)

...not meaning to nit-pick, just hoping to provide clarification here. :thumbsup

Certainly not, since Easter Eggers don't breed true. :) However, I've never considered hatchery EEs "mixes," or mutts with every breed under the sun in their background. They're Easter Egger X Easter Egger, as far as I know. Pea combs, green legs, and beards/muffs are all common features (yes, beardless occurs, too) which appear in many specimens. There's enough consistency for me, personally, to disagree that they're all just crosses. Not including EEs hatched from within a poultry hobbyist's flock which carry the colored egg gene, of course.
Americaunas are a recognized breed.

Ameraucanas are a recognized breed, omiting the "i." :)

There exists a specimen of the same caliber in most every species.
Cattle: Black Baldy
Dog: Doodles
Cats: Savannah, Bengal, Chausie
Horse: Warmbloods
Pig: Commercial hog which is often a cross of Landrace and Yorkshire
Camel: Dromedary and Bactrian cross
Bison: Beefalo
Snake: Corn Snake x Rat Snake
Etc etc etc
