I totally understand about not wanting to ship them. They are so precious! I had 6 Calls from Nature's Hatchery shipped from Illinois to Colorado and i was VERY HAPPY with the way the birds were "packed". The box was heavy duty cardboard and divided in half with more heavy duty cardboard. 3 ducks in each side with fruit and a nesting material that was not straw or shavings. It was nice. The ducks were not even frightened when they came out of the box. All was good but I do not think I could put little ones in a box to fly through tje air!

Best of luck with them and keep posting pictures on this thread. I am saving it!

Yeah, I wasn't confident myself about shipping them, especially since they were more than a day old. Frankly, I don't personally know too many breeders who are willing to ship young Calls. I can't think of even one to come to mind right now. Many prefer to see how they grow out before they decide who to hold back for their own pens, and I was really gunshy especially about my first group of ducklings. When you go to the amount of trouble and nail-biting it takes to hatch them, the idea of them possibly dying in a box holds little appeal. I was particularly impressed with the care you took of them, Hattiegun, especially since I strive to take such good care of them myself, and I hope all the ducks can stay on with you...I wish all cute little ducks could have such a good home!

By the way, I got another "feather for my cap" yesterday...I got my NPIP premise ID card! So not only are my ducks tested, but I am in the program as a registered NPIP premise and I also took the tester class so I can also test birds. I did this because I want people to know that I want to take this hobby seriously, and the health of the ducks too. That was a particularly nice piece of mail to get!
