Egg Song! Glorious Egg Song!

Well, I broke the yolk when the kitty tried to jump on counter to see what I was up to, but it's a DOUBLE YOLKER!

That's great! I'm almost thinking that my big egg from today just might be one, too. But since I work Wed/Thurs I'll have to wait til Friday morning to break into mine!!

I've been getting 2-3 jumbo 2.6-2.9 oz. double yolk eggs every week. All the exact same color too, so the same bird?
Looks funny because all the rest are in the 1.4-1.9oz. range.

We only have two laying consistently and one who sometimes lays. These are the eggs we have gotten over the last four days.

Every egg I've cracked open from them is fertile (at least if I understood the picture tutorial right).

I really want one of those nifty old fashioned egg scales but I don't want to spend the money so I'm using a digital scale we already have for calculating postage. It weighs in oz and gm. I measure in both.

I heard the egg song from my one EE yesterday and today she laid her first egg :) over the past week, I've gone from 4 regular layers to getting 9 eggs today lol. THRILLED!

How old is your EE? I'm still waiting for mine - she's 24 weeks old & hasn't even squatted yet! What color was the egg? How egg-citing! :weee

well my first EE started laying at 22 weeks old but this one, Daisy, will be 24 weeks old on Saturday. Her egg was blue/green. It looks blue when you take a picture of it lol. My last two EEs just started laying this week also (they're all the same age). One lays light olive, one lays green, and the other, I'm not entirely sure what color her egg will be officially since it was a soft egg yesterday without a shell. Only one of them ever squatted for me so you're probably really close. Hang in there!
