Egg too small, duckling pipped, struggling to breathe, no noise, day 28 - pic attached

He is looking great !! Veins are going down nicely
Yes mirrors work
You will find though the ones a few weeks apart may not take the younger ones
I tried mine that were 2 weeks apart and he grabbed her by the little beak and threw her
I kept them separated a few weeks but pens beside each other so they could see and hear one another
You maybe okay but be prepared in case
Also ones at 2 weeks do not need the same heat temp as new borns
I used a heat plate and not a lamp for mine
Just make sure the Oder ones have plenty of space to get out of the heat if they need to
I’m so excited to see pics once he is born
Also be prepared I did a staggered hatch as well but a few of mine came early as when you have one hatching while other eggs are just hitting the lockdown it speeds them up as they hear the hatching baby. This happened with my two that came a few hours apart
Once he hatches if you do have other eggs in the hatching bator maybe check them for internal pips
Ohh my goodness! That's wild! Good thing I like carpentry. Hahaha! This is going to be one crazy ride

If the air cell is too small, that means the humidty was too high in the incubatore.

The eggs lose moisture as they incubate. As moisture goes out, the air cell gets bigger. That's why you can find all those diagrams online of how big the air cell is supposed to be at what stage of incubation.

If the humidity in your incubator is too high or too low, the eggs lose moisture at the wrong rate, and the air cells are the wrong size. If you keep the incubator a bit drier, the eggs will lose moisture faster, and the air cells will be bigger at hatching time.

During hatching, they need a high enough humidity to keep the duckling from sticking to the shell. Do not reduce humidity in the hatcher. But for the ones still in the incubator, you can change the humidity up or down until you get it right.
Thank you very much for the information! It is greatly appreciated 😁

It's 11:30pm on day 28. This is what he looks like now.....

I tried to upload a video but it was not the right format. I don't know how to change my phone to record in a different format.

I'm still sitting on my hands, but it's getting harder. His breathing has a definite rhythm to it but for now he's still seems to be okay. If it's needed, I hope I time the intervention properly. Ugh! I don't want to be late!

How long has it been since the safety hole was made ?
The veins look like they are going you could try chipping a little more shell
You have to upload the videos to YouTube or there is another one I can’t remember what it is then upload the link on here

Thursday night was the pin hole sized safety hole. Friday night he internally pipped. Saturday night I opened the cap. I waited 24 hours between steps

I haven't chipped anything more from the shell since I took the cap off on Saturday night. I've just watched since then other than keeping the membrane moist. Well, he and I have also had deep conversation, but he's been more of a listener so far. I'm hoping that he will tell me his whole story when he comes out 😉

Thank you so much for the video info! I tried to change the video format on the phone, but that looked to be well beyond my pay grade

You can try to chip away at the shell a little at a time
Wait a few hours in between. That membrane can be pulled over the shell
You can cut it where the veins have receded then pull over the shell mine was very flexible from all the Vaseline I had to keep it moist
Try chipping a little over his head and see how the veins look. If you get any signs of blood stop immediately
Don’t take to much shell as once you free him he may push out
If he gets his head out you should be able to see inside the shell for the yolk. If you see a yolk sac put him back in the shell and in a cup or bowl to keep him from pushing out.
It’s been 48 or more hours since his internal pip So he should be close to being done or could be done
Is he still yawning and chewing ? These are signs he is still absorbing

This is what I mean about pulling the membrane over the shell
Never tear it as it can tear to far and tear a vein that’s not done yet

Ok. Thanks. I'll gear up. I found a better picture and was able to zoom in. I still see lots of red veins on top of the yellowish stuff. Lol. Sorry. I really have no idea what some of that is in there
