We are currently at 9 out of 12 (losing #6 at day 7 and now #2 & #12 at day 11). These were a BARNYARD MIX purchased through eBay, and arrived packed EXTREMELY well.

The candled pictures don't do them justice, as many of them moved before we could get a *good* photo. We did, however, see movement in ALL of the non dud eggs.

We will be candling again at day 14 (Saturday), and then again on day 17 (Tuesday), prior to *locking down* Xena. I don't want to place any duds underneath her that might cause problems with the other eggs hatching.

We plan on moving Xena's nest on Saturday, into her new BHC (Brooder Hospital Coop). We'll get it put together, scoot her current setup over, with her in it, set up the BHC, and then set up her nest. We'll take half the eggs, candle them, place them in the new nest and move HER to her new nest; take the other half of eggs, candle and then put them under her. Although she currently isn't in direct weather, she IS in a rigged up milk crate, inside a cardboard box on it's side, with a piece of plywood over her to keep out inclement weather. The nest is located inside of a run we rigged together to let our littles have some yard time next to the big run to help them get used to each other.

If anyone *sees* anything with the candled eggs that I should know about, PLEASE feel free to post it here!

We still have babies! I cannot wait for them to hatch. I'm vicariously living through you & Xena right now. Where I live I can only have a certain amount of chickens. I would want to keep all the babies & that's not possible for me. Love my sweet girls.

Awww, thanks! Make sure you're watching the thread so you get notifications! Gonna be a TON of pics come Saturday and/or Sunday, of the new BHC and Xena's big move AND of the candled eggs!!!

Edit to add: So, pick a number egg and it can be yours! You can name it and everything. We did that for one of our original flock (The Flufferbutters) on Instagram, which is how we have a white leghorn named Purple Thunder!
