How would y’all treat it? She is acting normal. Tail is straight up. She is walking around eating and stuff. I just love her sooooo much. I want her to get better.

Can you tell us where you see the swelling - is it the vent or underneath the vent?
To me, it looks like residue from poop, but I can't tell well enough from the photo and I'm not there, so you have to tell us. Is there a bad odor from pus, it's there fluid in those places?

You can put a bit of Nu-Stock on those scabby looking places, then let her back with the flock. If she's got runny poop, then ask your vet to perform a fecal float.

It was poopy when I found her. I cleaned her up and saw that. Yes, she is eating and drinking. I’m just freaking out.

Don't freak out yet. Shes acting normal, shes eating & drinking. That's all good.

Is she laying?

Sometimes a poopy butt can be something more serious like worms or parasites, or something you need to treat, but sometimes its just a poopy butt. If the poop gets stuck on the feathers & starts gathering more poop it will eventually block them up.

Watch her now that her vent is clean. They can hide illness pretty good, but if its more serious you'll notice she's not laying, or she's not eating as much, or not scratching as much, or laying around a lot, or her poop looks weird.

So, should I worm her? She doesn’t lay a lot. Ok, I’ll keep an eye on her.

It probably couldn't hurt. Some people do preventive worming & some only do it when they see worms in the poop. Here's an article on worms & another on vent prolapse.

I also recommend you look up links about external parasites like lice & mites. She might not have any of these things, but its good to know what to look for.

I don't have chickens but you could have her sit Epsom salt bath or keep it clean with saline solution. It might just heal up. Is there a lot lot flys around you?

Yeah, there are a lot of flys. But there haven’t been any around my chickens because I put hanging fly traps in the trees. They are full. So, I have to change them. The flys haven’t bothered the chickens. I think she has “Vent Gleet”. She shows all the symptoms and the NASTY poop around her vent. Her swelling went down ALOT when I put some Anti-Fungal ointment on her vent and around. Ill also clean her vent area if it gets dirty again. I’ll keep a eye on her. She is eating, drinking, scratching around, eating the grass, dust bathing, etc. I just hope I don’t lose her. She is my pride and joy.
