Cowboy came out last night - he has some shell stuck to his legs - and he’s a tiny one too. He’s kind of golden in his feathers.

Sometime today I think I decided I’m going to do the arduous task of identifying each chick. I’m going to use yarn wrapped around their leg as markers for now since they’re so small and when they are bigger I will use actual ID tags. I have seemingly endless colors of yarn too. I’m a crocheter and a yarnaholic. Plus it won’t constrict their legs and as they get older I can replace the yarn easily

chick made it!! And is now integrated with the rest of the chicks. The fluid under its skin recedes more and more and also has grown some fluff. You can still see where it is and it somewhat looks like it favors the leg a little. It’s a strong chick! Let’s just hope it’s not a boy cause I don’t think I’ll keep a rooster who has any predisposition for that anomaly.
Glad it is absorbing the fluid and getting better.
