I got my McMurray oder to day too and it was stapled shut.

I ordered from Privitt Hatchery and the lid was sealed. It fit on like a puzzle piece, but then they put those tough plastic straps around it's length and width, like a Christmas present. I cut them off at the post office when I picked them up to check for DOA chicks and there were none.

no Kiddin'! What I've been able to glean from all the responses is that ya'll have recieved them in any mariad of seaed or non sealed ways. Guess it's just a wonder they get to us at all, sometimes. Talked to the po about generating a theft report, but said it won't do much good without insurance. I'm buying an incubator today and having it rushed to me, then i'll be asking for eggs from ya'll. Think the po can send a simple incubator without some dishonest worker grabbing it?

Mine never had bands, tape, or staples on it.

you hear of people stealing checks but chicks, i've seen it all now, nothing is sacred anymore, maybe the person who did this will fall dead in their coop and these same chicks will eat them

Both my boxes from Ideal had 2 plastic bands around the box. They can't tape them sealed or the chicks would not survive. The bands have to be cut off. I have seen the PO refuse boxes that they felt were not secure, so I would imagine that most shipments started out with bands.
