I had an extra bag of pine bedding I tossed up on the chickens food bin. I figured they wouldn’t mess with it then and poop all over it. Imagine my surprise when I go to collect eggs and see my daughters California white chicken sitting up there. View attachment 2393811

I come back later and find a barred rock up there tooView attachment 2393813
Now I’ve had enough. I place a bucket on its side on top of the bag of bedding. This will work......not. View attachment 2393814
Another sexlink decided she was going to lay her egg inside the bucket What is wrong with the perfectly good nest boxes girls?!

Pip, my Belgian bearded D'anver, decided that hiding her eggs was a good idea. Fast forward a few days and I find a small clutch of bantam eggs hidden under the workbench next to the chainsaws.... XD

In the summer, my laying hens are put out to pasture in a John suscovich chicken tractor. And the tarp we had put over it was a bit to big, so we ended up folding it up on one side to create a 1 1/2 foot deep pocket on one side. One day, when I was turning the tractor, I heard a weird crunching sound... I looked in that pocket.... and (after a count later) found three DOZEN eggs hidden in there... I was very disappointed in the girls... XD

Well it’s Quality bedding so of course they wanted to lay in it
