English Shepherd as Poultry Guardian

We have crappy weather coming possibly as early as Tuesday. Kids may be home for most of week. Special preparations for animals already underway. With chickens I am given them free-choice access to feed to put additional fat on. Wind breaks will up again too.

Pup Pup and Honey after we spent 10 minutes trying to get a Dominique hen back inside barnyard perimeter. Hen is trying to disperse over to cockyard on east side of house.

I do not think she has gotten closer than 100 feet to any of the cocks. She has been venturing closer each day. She is not doing so to get additional or better feed.
I had a pullet that kept breaking into the bachelor pad. I ended figuring out which one she was after and he was worth keeping. They are still together, it's been a few years.

I went home to check on sick kid. His rooster got out and beat up my Dominique rooster. Then Pup Pup then caught the Dominique rooster and held him down for about five minutes. Only good was my son’ rooster could not do more damage. Pup Pup herself whoops on the Dominique too often.
