Exciting New Brinsea App Controlled Incubator - Testers Journey!

Pics
We have our current ones set up in our bedroom. We bought a cabinet just for incubating.

We are setting up my oldest one in the basement bedroom for overflow, as next spring, I knew I'd need another incubator! We have several beautiful silkies reaching adulthood and a new coop coming to set up breeding pens.

(Note: The blinds were pulled for the picture.)

This is a better picture of the cabinet.

I love that cabinet 😍

For those of you, like me, who do not have home wifi *gasp* yep, its 2024 and I dont have wifi, why am I testing a Brinsea Connect :idunno well, because I am getting a no-contract hot-spot to use for this test and future hatches! When I first saw the Brinsea Connect a few weeks ago on the Brinsea website, I though "wow, that's awesome, I would love that!" I love data 😁 but, no wifi!

So I am all about testing this thing out with a pay by the month wifi hot-spot in case there is anyone else out there, like me, who wants the data and the ability to always check in on the incubation, but doesn't have a permanent home internet solution 😃 I will be activating the hot-spot on Saturday when it arrives, then I will only have it in service during hatching months. Let's see how this goes!

This is amazing! Such a wonderful opportunity, will definitely be following!

Debbie, I think you know how much I love that cabinet :p !

For the most important question, what are you three putting in there :pop ?

Of course, thank you TwoCrows for the tag!
Silkies!!!! Of course :ya and since my girls aren't laying a ton in this heat, I'm getting a couple dozen eggs from local sources to fill the gaps. Cannot have any empty spots

Late to this party but I have gotta say I am absolutely thrilled for these very deserving BYC members who are testing out these Brinseas! So so awesome!!! Thanks for choosing some of the most kind and helpful people on this forum to do the testing! Can’t wait to see their hatches!!!! Congrats @casportpony @Debbie292d and @2ndTink 💕💕💕

Thank you @Slothinc ! I am so excited to test this incubator out and see how it works!

That is sweet of you, @Slothinc, and thank you. ❤️

I'm sure excited about it—we all are! Mine comes tomorrow, but I'm hoping to have it full of silkie eggs by next Monday or Tuesday!

I literally just got wifi in my house for the first time last month, so this is very good to know it can run off of mobile data/hot spot. Now will it still work if your phone isn't there (when you leave)?
If you can, you'll have to track how much data it'll take for the whole 21 days. My phone service doesn't have unlimited data, so if I was to get rid of the wifi (orothers who don't have wifi and have a similar service provider), it'd be helpful to know how much data should be stored up/bought before setting up this incubator.

Same thing here! About half of the eggs here that are laid aren't fertile we just discovered after cracking open a half dozen or so. I was going to just buy 2 dozen eggs, now I might buy 3 or 4! She's where my prettiest silkies came from, so I know they'll be great!

I'm actually getting a dedicated hot-spot from another provider, it will stay on in the house. I'm hoping it will show how much data is used by the incubator, but my hubby is already scheming all the things we can now do and use since we will have wifi 🤣 I broke it to him that it's only for the months I have the incubator going.

But, according to the literature that came with the incubator, it will function without wifi, you just of course can't see the data or make adjustments to the incubator from the app, but you can with the buttons on the unit. So, with no wifi, it sounds like it functions exactly like the 56EX.

I have Cellcom and when I'm away, once I try use anything, Cellcom asks if I want to use Cellular to run it. That's how the Govees, Blink cameras, Nest thermostat, and our digital exhaust fan are too. Usually, I just set certain apps to use Cellular when I'm out of Wi-Fi range.

I can find out from Cellcom how much data I used to run it and will let you know. I'm not gone much but actually will be out of state for a few days while the eggs are incubating. No fear, Brinsea is taking care of them. 😊
