We then ran to town, and while there, I checked the app. This is pretty neat! The eggs will be added on Saturday, and then I'll change the days, and the humidity will be 45%.

just hatched quail are crazy fast! That sounds like a good "lip" size.
I was pretty shocked the first time I saw a chick do that; did not expect that much athleticism from such a young chick. Then I realised that the chick had fallen next to the dog. A few hysterics later and the chick was untouched
Making an extra barrier with cardboard wouldn't be a bad idea at all, actually
I love that the delivery guy took a picture with youThe Brinsea EX Connect arrived!Thank you, Brinsea!

Great pics Tink! Yup, it was an issue with our old one, too, and funny how a little clip could be so exciting, but it was!For anyone who has experienced the turning motor gear wandering off the shaft while incubating, they have FIXED IT!!!
Debbie's husband and I both checked this first thing out of the box. Brinsea has added a clip on the shaft to hold the gear in place
As you can see, I was so excited, I took a photo before I even fully unpacked the incubatorthat little silver clip is a true anxiety reducer.

For comparison, an Advance model from 2021 without the clip and photos showing why that is needed. The gear can travel off the shaft enough that the turning mechanism no longer engages and this is something that must be checked! Now, no stress, and no gears wandering off, PHEW!

I have my new hot-spot configured and set to never go into sleep modethe Connect is connected and I've played around with the app.
3 things are pretty sweet right out of the gate:
#1 - you can name your incubator! Mine is now Electro-broody
#2 - the alarms show up on your dashboard, see the little blue alarm bell and the Power Failure? Super cool!

#3 - the Brinsea incubators beep while turning, I've read there's a whole button process you can do to get to a spot to turn that off, but... in the app it's a simple finger click in the options section

I tried the test turn button and expected a delay, but it was quite immediate between pushing Start and the incubator turning.
It seemed fitting"Electro-broody"...I like it!
