Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

Yup, done water birth always. I agree with EVERYTHING about how wonderful they are. I've always had a water birth in the hospital, due to weird state laws about home birth, but you can tell how calm the babies are in the nursery if they've had a water birth. Never mind how good you feel after - you don't feel perfect, but I don't think I've felt half as bad as other women have looked without the water birth.

My hospital will allow me to labor in the water, but not actually deliver in the water. Apparently they used to deliver in the water, but their tubs don't have filters, so they had problems with infection. So I plan to labor in the water as long as I can.

I asked them if I found my own tub and let them approve the filter, would they allow me to use it, they sounded like they might, but then said they want me in bed for the delivery

Thats exactly the issue I have for myself laboring in water. I would only do it at home, never in a facility. Infection and bacteria are always rampant in a hospital setting, no matter how clean they are. The idea of sitting in a pool that other women have birthed in is really gross to me.

I admire all you for wanting to try different techniques for labor and birth, I am too chicken (lol) and will be taking the regular epidural route. I hope, eww hate to jinx myself like that. I mean I hope to deliver normally, in bed, with an epidural.
Looked on the ultrasound machine at work today and could see a foot...right where I thought there was a foot. too bad our machine isn't meant for people cause I can only see parts of him at one time.

Thanks to all for your diaper genie answers! I am gonna forego the whole idea and use a trash can. I guess I can get one later if things get too smelly or I get too lazy to take the diapers outside.

I dont want to set myself up to dissapointment in myself, so I have no preblem getting an epidural if I can't take it anymore, but I want to be mobile as long as possible, I will go crazy being stuck in bed that long, so I hope the water allows me enough pain relief to get through most of the labor.

I would LOVE to have a water birth, but they're not available here at our hospital. I would strongly consider a home birth, but my husband won't even think about it... guess I have to consider his opinions too...

I never even thought about bringing my own birthing pool to the hospital... that might be something I should ask about! It would be amazing if they would let me (depending on cost).

You really don't even have to have a "birthing tub". I went to the feed store, and bought a 300gal (maybe it's 350) watering trough. I know they are expensive...but I figured if I was going to use it for all my babies then it would pay for itself. And it is really easy to bleach when it's all done and I'm holding my little one. My husband just put a ball valve on the bottom and when we need more warm water, we let some out, and pour more in
