Brutal honesty while you are still pregnant is your best policy. I've had to bridge two touchy subjects similar to your own already and there were plenty of hurt feelings but boy, am I glad I got it over with. Discussing the issue with your MIL will not be a pleasant task, but waiting to do it adds daily stress for you that is not worth it. It certainly won't be any more fun to do the longer you wait, and the closer she gets to executing her plan. Good luck. As a mother it will be your job to do what is best for your family from here on out, uncomfortable, difficult and trying as it may be. You. Can. Do. It.

This is about you DH and DD. It's great that MIL wants to help but she has to respect your wishes plain and simple. Now is the best time to deal with it!

We were in Target today adding a few things to the registry, when we came across a brand of toy I had never seen before. B. Toys! They are, in a word, awesome! I must have every B. Toy for my child! Just a quick update - Dax is doing well... they bumped his feeds up to 30 mLs (about 1 ounce) every three hours, so that helps keep him happy. We got the preliminary biopsy results back yesterday and there was no sign of nervous tissue, so it appears that he does have Hirschprungs disease. The full biopsy report is supposed to come back tomorrow, and hopefully we can get the surgery scheduled from there.

I am really anxious to get him to surgery so we can move past this, but even thinking about letting him go off for surgery makes me physically ill.

Hope everyone else is doing well. I am spending all my free time with him in the NICU so I'm not getting on the computer much, but I will check in when I can.

We had the same thing happen locally to a 9 day old baby girl. There were 5 large dogs in the house at the time. The link to the story is here: http://www.bladenjournal.com/view/f...nt?instance=news_special_coverage_left_column

Seriously.. What are people thinking? I tossed my cat outside as soon as I found out I was pregnant and most cats aren't even vicious. No way on earth I would have a dog inside with my kiddo!

We have large breed inside dogs and children together. HOWEVER, the dogs are either in their crates or in the basement if we aren't holding the babies for the first year or so. Honestly, I've never had a problem with our dogs near the kids once they are up and walking.

But the reality is a lot of this comes from leaving an infant unattended with a dog in the same room. NEVER do that! I never have and I never will. If our babies are unattended, they are in their cribs sleeping with the door shut. Never mind the animals, they've got older siblings who aren't always that old and may try to play with the new baby and hurt them without meaning to.
