Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

You have to get a rhogam shot around 28 weeks, after you have an amnio or any procedure that could transmit blood, and after delivery if the baby is positive. I had to have one after this baby even though I had my tubes tied, lol.
Lauralyn is doing great still. She's under the lights today for jaundice but they are increasing her milk and everything else is good.

Oh okay....I'm around 10 weeks now....

A question for the ladies. Anyone lactating without being pregnant? I've been lactating for a few weeks now & it's highly unlikely that I'm pregnant. I'd have to be pretty far along if I was preg & the test came back neg plus everything else is normal. I'm not going to the doctor over this. Had way too many false alarms this year for me to go back in there & be told the same thing. Could it be hormones from caring for my hairless puppy while she's been sick? I do have a very strong motherly instinct for her & she sleeps in my arms every night. She's the right size & feels like a baby. My body wouldn't be substituting, would it?
Yeah, here's me "hey doc, I think I'm lactating over a dog". So not going to the doctor.

Ok, the situation's not funny, but the way you said it sure was! I really have no idea though. I would go to the doc - that would be extremely obnoxious and I'd want to know what was going on one way or the other.

I was part of an Infertility group, and a few of the women would lactate when around babies, because they wanted it soo bad I guess, or maybe something in the infertility treatments did it. But I would see a doctor just to make sure it's not an infection.

It's not an infection, it's normal milk & I'm not leaking. I do want a baby real bad & all my friends have been getting engaged & married these past two months which has been painful to watch. Many friends with first babies or pregnant now too. I was pretty desperate a few months ago but now I think I've come to terms with it all. I think it's the combination of this & the puppy that's done it so I'm just gonna last it out I guess.

Haven't yet.....they hurt?

Don't stress, I've had them with all 5 of my pregnancies, both during and after, and they've never hurt me.

Lol yeah, it is a shot so that hurts but they kind of burn for awhile after. I had the choice of my arm or hip. I went with the hip cuz they said my arm would get stiff/sore if I didn't remember to move it often. Just hurt for about 2 hours after. I have a birthmark about the size of a half dollar right where the nurse gave me the shot and DH thought it was from the shot. Men never think lol. It got me extra pitty from him though.

LOL I think that's the one I've got to get....is it a series of shots or just a one time thing?

I got one at 28 weeks and one a few days after the baby was born last time. He was positive and I am negative so I am pretty sure it will be the same this time around as well. The second one does not hurt as much since you are already on pain meds. I didn't notice it hurting as much the second time anyway.

What difference does it make AFTER the baby is born?

I'm having a scheduled c-section (if I carry to full term, otherwise, an emergency one as I've got some complications going on)....
