What difference does it make AFTER the baby is born?

I'm having a scheduled c-section (if I carry to full term, otherwise, an emergency one as I've got some complications going on)....

It is to keep your body from producing antibodies which could hurt the baby the next time you become preg.

OH so if I'm only having one child would I still need the shot?

Just as someone else said, it's to prevent your body from creating antibodies against the (+) factor in the blood. Any time there is any trauma and a possibility of the baby's blood, amniotic fluid or other bodily fluid coming in contact with your blood, they want to make sure that your body isn't going to make antibodies against the Rh factor.

Doctors will typically give Rhogam shot to anyone who is Rh -, although you don't technically need them unless your DH is Rh +. They figure better safe than sorry!

My DH's blood type is O + I think....I'll have to check....and mine is A-

If you're positive that you'll only have one child, you don't need the shot. At least you don't need the shot after the baby is born - it's still good to get one after any trauma in your pregnancy (amnio, etc.) so you don't develop it this pregnancy (very, very rare to develop during a first pregnancy).

If there is ANY possibility of having another child (even accidentally), its good to still get the shot. Its cheap insurance for the far off "just in case".

So what about full body itching? In the last two days I started getting really itchy. I've always had super-sensitive skin so I can't use anything but hypoallergenic soap, fragrance/dye free laundry soap, hypoallergenic face wash & make-up, etc. I tried using Palmer's lotion for a few days (about two weeks ago) and that made my belly & boobs itch...so I stopped. Now I'm puzzled because I haven't done anything different--no new clothes, no new soaps/lotions/etc but my entire body is itchy! And I have sort of a rash too....

That by Far was my worst Symptom! But it did get better in the second trimester, just can't take hot showers in the evening or I'm up all night itching! I couldn't even shave my legs or underarms because the itch would get soo bad afterwards. But it's much better now.

Mine is like little red bumps that almost look like bites?? I stripped the bedding last night, washed everything (in ALL Free & Clear) and put it back on the bed. I sleep naked anyway and I think clothes make it worse...LOL I am thinking about calling the doctor tomorrow just to check...it's driving me NUTS!
