Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

Today was the WORST day as far as being in pain.

My ribs are KILLING me!

And I've been getting that uterine ligament pain again.

On another note--the clinic called me today and left one of those automated phone calls reminding me of my appointment on Thursday. However, they said it's at the radiology department here in town. When I spoke with my doctor--she said it was in Spokane at Scared Heart. So now I'm confused.

Of course, I got home at 5:20 and they're closed at 5:00pm

So I can't call until tomorrow.

So now I'm wondering--where is my appointment? If it's in town--I took the entire day off work (so did DH) to travel to/from Spokane (it's a 6 hour round trip)....and they have "real doctors" and a MUCH better ultrasound machine....

However, my second thought is that if it's here in town, it must not be that serious?

Or the nurse is wrong?

Sighs...too much to think about!

Of course, now I have a throbbing headache too!

You guys have mentioned water birth before.. I'm thinking I might bring it up to my Dr when time gets a little closer. Is it just the warm temp that seems to ease away the pain of labor, or what? Because good gracious, I'm all for the no shot in my spine thing too! I cringe when they draw my blood
lol.png

I did not have a water birth, but I was in the tub for awhile. It seemed to be calming, yet intensified the labor -- if that makes sense. It helped me along, anyways. I enjoyed the tub. I am the same way with a needle in the spine -- it's kind of a phobia. Glad I'm not the only one! I went au natural in childbirth and was satisfied with doing it that way. Everybody is different.

I am not worried about needles anywhere except my mouth. idk why but you can poke me all day except in my gums. My poor dentist has to deal with my anxiety attacks every time I need novicaine. So the needle part is not a deterrent for me. Good thing they dont put epidurals in your mouth
lol.png

I think I am feeling contractions, last night the pain seemed to follow other peoples descriptions of braxton hicks. My DH was being a douche again last night, but then realized it and I could see the guilt on his face. I wish he knew how difficult this week has been. but I guess he can't be a saint all the time

I am hoping it's gonna be like all the other discomforts I have had during pregnancy and I will get used to them. Seems like everytime I think the pains are too much to handle, a few days goes by and it's not as bad as it seemed at 1st.

another dr appt tomorrow..which gets me outta work early

and after working 6 hours or so I should be experiencing the pains I have been having and maybe my dr can help me decide how much longer to work if she sees how it really cramps me up. why is it that the nurses that bring you to the exam room have to walk 100 miles an hour?

funny thing...I had to go to the grocery store after work monday. So I worked my 10hr shift, drove to the store and about halfway through shopping I started cramping and contracting. So I ring out and realize that it is POURING outside. Since I could barely walk through the pain, I am getting soaked walking (very slowly) to the car and putting groceries in the trunk. Laughing at myself the whole time as I watch people running through the rain. Nothing like being soaking wet, having contractions and then of course all the water made me have to pee. I may not go to the grocery store by myself anymore. Just thought I would share cause I really did think it was funny.

Actually for the most part Braxton Hicks don't hurt; they mostly just feel like someone giving you a squeeze. I get more annoyed by them then an actual feeling of pain. Some first time moms wonder "How can I tell if I'm having a B/H contraction?" It's easy you'll know it because your uterus/ every part of your belly gets very hard and you'll feel a sort of shortness of breath, if you are walking you'll feel pressure and won’t want to keep walking. As you get further along, these will begin to have a feeling like someone squeezing you too hard, if that makes any sense. The only time I recall B/H actually hurting was with my 2nd baby but he was 9 lb 4ounces so that explains that. If you can, use them as a pratice, close your eyes during them and focus on the baby and also on being very relaxed. The first labor is so hard because you just want to get up and leave it all behind and come back later. But you can't and once you give in to this feeling things go smoother.

What pains are you experiencing and where?

That is funny. I'm just the same way though, a train could be headed my way, if I'm having a b/h I'm simply not moving till it is done otherwise I feel like I'm going to explode!

I WISH WISH WISH I could say the same. The CRNA's have trouble getting the needle in between my vertebrae. It's now been hypothesized that my vertebrae are too close together. So, they hit bone and hit bone until I'm a complete basket case. (The lidocaine shot prior to the actual anesthetizing procedure only goes so deep, you know.)

With my oldest DD I thought the problem was b/c the CRNA was in training -- the Dr. was able to get it first try that time. So, on the second DD I thought it would be much better b/c I had a VERY experienced CRNA. He ended up describing the event to by OBGYN as "challenging" -- that's b/c he was BEHIND the needle -- my description would be "TORTUROUS!"

It is my prayer that I can go without any needles anywhere near my spine!

Still here -- 39 weeks today!

Sorry, I don't keep up well! lol

Just a brief recap:
Last week I felt like total crap. I wanted to sleep 24 hours a day for about 5-6 days in a row. So much so, that I went ahead and took maternity leave on the 20th. This week (since Friday), I feel much better. Not like non-pregnant energetic, or anything, but at least I cooked three meals for my family yesterday & fed the chickens by myself! I also went to the grocery store & feed store after picking the big kids up from school. That is AMAZING compared to how I felt last week!

On another note:
My appts are every Friday. Last friday I was 1 cm dilated (I may have already reported this) & still 60% effaced. The good thing about pelvic exams is that they can actually increase your BH contractions that help to soften the cervix. I was sore for about the next day or so, but I don't mind b/c I feel like I'm making progress!

Dr. said I'm not "ripe" enough to induce, but maybe I will be come this Friday -- I've been noticing small amounts of mucus plug coming out intermittently when I go to the bathroom. Yay!!

I would really rather just "go" on my own...no induction. So, my plan is to keep going until my due date. If nothing, then I will agree to be induced on May 6th.

are you excited or nervous? I am only a little behind you and it changes everyday! Thank goodness the weather is getting warmer, went to a garage sale yesterday and got some last minute items for super cheap!

Had my appt yesterday and I am still 2cm, 80%. She said he will probably be about 6lbs and that he is pretty long. DH and I are gonna get some nice pics (finally) of us before I go into labor, I will post them when I get them done. I keep hearing that I am not that big, but I don't feel that way! on the other hand, I am WAAAAAYYYYY smaller than Luna's twin belly photo!

Hey kelsey........

Oh, hey... just seeing this now. I am not really nervous, although I do have some "oh crap!" moments when I think about all I'm about to go through AGAIN! You know, we were surprised by this pregnancy, so it took me a LONG time to get even remotely excited. I know that I will just love her to pieces and she will make us laugh like the other ones do! I'm so glad this has been my best pregnancy out of all of them. Thank goodness!

I'm just really ready to be un-pregnant, and start going to the gym again -- if I have time (I suspect that I may not)

I'm ready to see what she looks like and kiss her little cheeks!

I hope you dont have to be induced. Glad things are going well enough. I think I am at the place you were, I just wanna nap and sit/lay down. I have so much to do I keep hoping that the nesting thing will kick in to give me some energy. I would really like to get the curtains done for the nursery.

atleast my chickens are doing better after the upper respiratory outbreak, I was afraid I would go into labor and be gone for 2 days to come back to dead chickens. Now just to deal with those roosters until the auction. So I really need to get this boy out before too long or it will be really hard to make the auction. If they frustrate me too much more then I wont be so sad to see them go and may let them go for meat.

as far as the pains I am having, I guess it's more like pressure that stops me in my tracks. I was just reading a bunch of other mama's to be complaints about the pains and I am having similar experiences. I think some of it is still ligament pain from him dropping, some is cervical pressure from his noggin (I guess) and some is back pain....and sometimes all simultaneously.

the weather is finally nice enough that I can wear a short sleeve maternity shirt!!!

I've had the same problems with resp illness in my brooder pen. I've lost about eight chicks (I've lost count). Half of my Smith w/bw Ams...totally perturbs me.

One day they all look fine and energetic; next day a bunch just lying around dead. (I did see one that was gasping & a couple with matted eyes). What the heck!?

I've started Duramycin the in the water two days ago...hope this prevents more loss. If you have a better idea, let me know!!!!

I have a lot of pressure pain toward mid to late day. I have random, sharp take-my-breath-away round ligament stretching. My lower back pain comes after feeding the chickens, but sitting in the glider rocker helps this.

I'm to the point where I WANT THE PAIN -- bring it on!!! I am ready to get this kid out!!!!
