Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

I am back. She couldn't find any viable veins on my arms so she had to draw the blood out of my hand. I chose the "fruit punch" stuff. It made me a little sick-feeling and kind of dizzy...but not too bad. I won't know until tomorrow...

On another note--the doctor said that the baby is measuring about 2 weeks' ahead of schedule and if she stays on the current growth pattern she's on at 4oz per week until due day--she should be close to 8lbs!

He told me 8/16/2011 would be the c-section day.

Oh and he wants me on one 81mg "baby" aspirin every day now and told me NO I cannot travel to Eugene next weekend to see my youngest sister graduate from college.

I know.

He said that with my poor circulation (bad veins), etc that I'll be at greater risk for throwing a clot or something...he also said that if I went into (premature) labor that I'd be very far away and the baby would be in the NNICU for 5-6 weeks (in Oregon) which means I'd be away from home/work, etc. I like this doctor--he's a no ''b/s'' type of guy--and he wouldn't say something to just scare me. He's been doing this for longer than I've been alive so I trust him. I just don't want to take any chances.

Oh and I got to see the baby on the u/s today.

She stuck her tongue out and was very active--probably had something to do with that nasty drink?!?

It was like Gatorade but more sugary.

Ouch about the hand part! And hopefully everything comes back perfectly for you!

So glad your little baby is doing well! And just think, 8lbs is always better than 10lbs

A lady that I work with, her friend had a 12lb baby! She went to go see him after he was born and the nurse made the comment when she came up, "Oh, are you here to see the toddler!?"

And I'm so sorry about you having to miss your sister's graduation

I'm sure she understands though, stay positive - maybe he'll change his mind?

Edited - That is too funny about seeing her sticking her tongue out on the u/s!

RFF -- that's very disappointing about your sister's graduation. Sorry to hear about it and at the same time I'm sure your sister would love to know you have maintained a healthy prengancy

Update on myself:

I went to do another blood test today to see if the oral Progesterone (three times a day) and the injections (2cc every three days) is working. Last time my hCG was 162 and my progesterone was reading at only 6! Today my hCG was 1,053 (

) but my Progesterone level was only a 15 even with the pretty heavy therapy. So now...ugh...

I have to have injections EVERY DAY until I am 12 weeks along. My husband will get really good at this, he'll get about 50+ practices in before this is all said and done.

Today he gave his first one and I have to say he did a really good job.

I was really hoping to go with a midwife instead of an OBGYN this time around, but I found out today that my pregnancy is High Risk at this point. I hope that designantion lifts after the first trimester and I can go back to a "normal" status. But if not, oh well....

--the good news is the baby is growing really well and I should be able to have an ultrasound next week!

Thanks Codymax2,

I don't have to decide on a mid-wife or OBGYN until the second trimester anyway. I have full care by my GYN right now, he is overseeing my first 12 weeks. At that point, hopefully, the designation of "high risk" wil be removed and I won't even have to deal with it

Good luck with your results! Hope you pass with flying colors. If it makes you feel better, the drink made me feel a little sick every time I've taken it, and I've easily passed it all 3 times as well.

Eight pounds isn't too bad!! My DD was 10 days early (induced), and 8lb 6oz... I'm not going to induce with this one, so I hope he doesn't end up being 10lb 6oz like his dad!!

I didn't realize that you were going to have a C-section???

Great hCG levels!! Sounds like everything is progressing well, although I'm sorry about the progesterone shots... that does NOT sound like fun! Luckily the placenta's taken over the majority of progesterone production by 12 weeks, so at least this shouldn't be a full pregnancy situation. Also, once you've made it through the first trimester, you should go back down to "normal" status and have no problem finding a midwife. I really considered getting one, but the closest one to here is about 40 minutes away and I didn't get great vibes from her.
