Ok so more drama from this household LOL. Seems like every day something dramatic happens with this pregnancy....and I've only known for about a week.

I have been having "cramps" pretty steadily since before I got the BFP. They've gotten progressively worse...and I have told both nurses about this and they both told me that it was normal to have some cramping when the egg first implants, ect. Which I know to be true. However the last two days this cramping has been much much worse. I hardly slept last night because I was in so darn much pain. I can't stand up straight to walk and buttoning my pants is out of the question. I noticed yesterday that I could feel the fibroid in my uterus (I have known its there for almost two years but never have been able to palpate it myself.) I thought I could feel it just because my uterus is getting bigger quickly. Wrong!

When I went in today for my shot I told the nurse that I was in a LOT of pain at least a 6 on a 1-10 scale, and it rivals early labor pains. She got me in to a doc right away and they did a Vaginal Ultrasound. Good news is they we think we were able to find the egg sack (still too new in pregnancy to compeltely confirm that) bad news is I have an ovarian cyst that is about the size of a small orange. It's just under 6 cm in width. Thats quite large -- larger than a jumbo chicken egg for more reference. This cyst is so big that its actually pulled my ovary behind my uterus. The cyst made it really difficult for the Dr. to see my fallopian tubes to rule out an ectopic pregnancy so they aren't completely ruling that out with the amount of pain I am in.

I have to go in again next week for another ultrasound to check for the fully implanted embryo and also to get a measurement of the cyst to see how fast it's growing. I just have to wait it out though, there's no treatment that's a viable option for me. He warmed me that when the cyst bursts it will feel "like you are being stabbed with a large needle or knife".

This is all due to PCOS.

Ohhh... poor you!! A 6cm cyst is HUGE! You must be miserable... I really hope everything goes well this next week and your cyst bursts soon and your pregnancy looks great. I'm very grateful that I don't have PCOS - that must be agonizing.

Awww, Im sorry youre having so much pain and drama. That just sucks. If it helps at all, I had a thing on my ovary in one of my pregnancies that was about 4 cm's. Even the nurses were giving me strange looks, like something was really wrong. That sure didnt help me to worry less, but everything turned out ok (it was my third pregnancy and in the first 8 weeks). Since you are so early and on hormones, it could be a corpeus luteum cyst- thats where the spot that released the egg gets all filled with liquid and can hurt, and get pretty big. Hopefully once your placenta takes over making pregnancy hormones the cyst will go away (if it hasnt popped by then, which may hurt, but shouldnt harm the pregnancy), the corpeus leteum (sp?) is said to supply certain hormones that maintain a pregnancy until the placenta takes over, but I could be wrong (some research is certainly in need here for me). I hope everything turns out ok and you are out of pain very soon!

Suzettex, you're right - the corpus luteum (the tissue which is formed following ovulation) produces progesterone until the placenta is able to take over. I don't know much about a corpus luteum cysts, but I would suspect that the formation of a cyst would be likely to interfere with progesterone production, which could be why your progesterone is low as well. Hope it gets better soon!
