What exactly is a fry pie?

I realize she is North of us and everyone calls things by different names... But I am willing to bet that it's a fried pie.. Which is similair to a turnover.

Had my 32 week appointment today. I gained a pound since my last visit and everything else is where it should be. Things seem to be going wonderfully.

After I left the Docs office, I visited a couple pediatricians and finally found one I like. Clean office, nice & knowledgeable staff.... And the office had 2 seperate, unconnected waiting rooms. One for the sick kids and one for the healthy ones. I liked that alot.. Then I stopped at Target to get some nursing bras and tops, along with a couple other odds and ends to put in my hospital "GO" bag. That about covers all of my activity for the day. I did a little bit at work. Nothing going on so we closed early. I was excited to have some extra evening time off.. HA! I fell asleep until 5:30 and accomplished nothing.

pretty much! they do look like turnovers. You start with a pie like dough for crust, roll it out, cut it to fit your mold (I use a perogie maker), set cut piece ontop of folding mold, fill with 1 tsp of fruit filling of choice, fold perogie maker to crimp shut, place sealed pie in several inches of hot oil, turning frequently until golden brown. Set on rack to cool, then while still warm, roll it in a powdered sugar icing mix, let dry/cool on cooling racks. THEY ARE DELICIOUS.

Some of the amish around here put a dollop of cream cheese inside with the fruit. I'm just putting in fruit. I'm making lemon, apple, strawberry, and blueberry fry pies. The one local Amish gal makes 300 each week, and sells them all in about a day at 50 cents each.

This may have come up before, but are you finding that you have less interest in your chickens (ducks, geese, etc) now? I know this sounds bad, I have to drag myself out to feed them lately. I don't know if it's the heat or hormones... or both. Anyways, we're going through the Buff flock and selling off some extra pullets and cockerels this weekend, so less to feed.

Also, I had my first heat casualty today. A 3-year-old Buff hen was acting "off" yesterday, but it was 104 degrees so I accounted it to just being uncomfortable in the heat. Today she's dead. I feel bad about that, but we do have her babies from earlier in the year to replace her.

Nathan Avery Williams - Born July 11th, 8 lbs , 22 inches long. Scary birth. He was wrapped in the cord and we lost his heart rate, but was able to get him out in 3 mins. We are home now and the kids are enjoying their baby brother. And today is my birthday!
