F.F.L Bird 'Interviews'

I see a little tibetan tux coturnix in there.
I see more little blue eggs back there!

Yep! Only one coturnix egg hatched our of like 7, but something is wrong with my genetics in my celadon so nothing else hatched. I've had development in over 2 dozen but they all fail around day 7. Honestly I would take him away since he's the only one, but all my others are 2 weeks or over a year so he wouldn't be any better off. Besides food, I'm just going to let broody mama take the charge until he's feathered more and not heat reliant. I'm penning her up tonight so she can't lose him when her chicks become more mobile.

Pearl (Top) and Jezabelle (bottom) wanted to check in and see how everyone's handling the heat. They've discovered that digging in the dirt against the basement is a good way to cool off

To chickens: how do you feel when people say you are “brown?”

Phoenixes: How does it feel dragging that tail around?

"It's fine. After all, humans are not the most superior being when it comes to seeing colors. I've heard we see colors you featherless things can only imagine."

"Eh, it's fine. Cardboard is brown and I like using it for my nests."

(I'll see if Hickory will answer this question tonight. She's the brownest red I own))

Lol these are good ones. Once my hen disappeared for a while. A couple days before her eggs hatched we discovered her in a chick shipping box that was sitting in our shed with fake straw! I guess she thought it was a good place for chicks? We went on a trip that week and locked all the chickens up so she must have had to forage for herself.

Black-breasted red Phoenix hens. Does the term “black-breasted red” annoy you since you have salmon breasts?
