Falling Down Heights, my daily life

I have pneumonia. But, I knew the signs and went to the hospital as soon as I was able to crawl out of bed. Spent Sunday evening/night and most of Monday passed out.

Poor animals suffered for it, with me not even able to go outside to feed them or put them to bed. At least there was enough in their pens to keep them fed.

Rabbits ate their bedding... >.>

I feel bad about it. But there wasn't anything I could do. Even called the neighbour and *begged* them to come look after them but they wouldn't. Not impressed.

Okay, proper little update. I want to go lay down and try to get some sleep but I have too much on my plate.

For the time being and as a show of goodwill, I've taken over paying the rent. I've been speaking with one of the owners and he is being very cooperative with me and they may consider renting directly to me if this doesn't get sorted out. Only issue with that is I would have to get a roommate to help pay for everything (rent, power, internet).

Right now, my fight is with the power company. Daughter owes them soooooooo much, and she's 🪛 them before; and my name is not yet on the lease.

At least I still have a roof over my head, as well as the animals'.

Latest batch of eggs has hatched: 30/31! I timed it for the upcoming sale this weekend. I should be able to sell these for upwards of $300, probably closer to $350 or even $400. Problem will be to KEEP that money and not go around buying more stuff!!!

Quail eggs are in the incubator (a new one, 20 egg MaticoopX that I was able to have the government pay for as part of my disability benefit).

I need to decide if I want to hatch out any more chickens, for personal consumption. I let the two banties sit on their eggs (most should be Chantecler mixes, but I did move them in with a Cochin roo so there may be some purebred ones in there too).

I'm also going to try to get one of the other chooks to go broody. I do prefer having them raise their own babies.

I also have a broodie duck right now, and unfortunately, one disappeared duck. The fence got knocked over in the wind while I was sick, and Coco, my oldest, is gone. I think she just went out to the swampy areas in the woods and hope she decides to come back.

All eligible bunny bachelorettes have been bred. I debated long and hard on this one but finally decided to do it, and deal with the consequences should I have to fond a new place. Last two weeks of May are going to be busy!!!

Oh, and that additional benefit I got for the incubator? I was also able to buy mats for cages and nest boxes and fencing. And another brooder plate.

As for my health, slowly getting better. Taking it easy, not pushing myself. I can now take more than one step without having to catch my breath!

Thanks for the update Wind! Sounds like you've got a plan, taking control can give you more comfort. Please take care of yourself and make sure to drink plenty of water, this helps to rid yourself of pneumonia. :hugs
