Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Save me from hormonal cockerels!!!

Had to shuffle around the OEGB and put the two males in one cage, and the six females in another. Those boys wouldn't leave the poor pullets alone!
I haven't had as many aggressive breeders now that my males are so mild tempered. I wonder if that could be a useful precursor for looking at keepers for mild human manners too

It's something I'm going to be working towards myself. I cannot abide aggressive animals (or humans for that matter!). Not much choice with the Red Pyle OEGB, since I just have the one cockerel. At least he isn't aggressive towards ME.

UGH! Humidity is at 85%! I am soaked! Just standing outside gets you covered in dampness.

The two cockerels I put together were fighting, so I put one outside in a large dog crate until I could get a cage ready. Guess what? He escaped!!!

Now I have a live trap as well as his old cage outside to try to lure him back, because he was not letting me anywhere near him.

Happily walking around, taunting me, and ignoring the cage.

He kept coming up to the cage/coop I have my banties in, so I set up netting around it, only open on one side. Let him go back there, then closed the 'trap'. He couldn't get past the netting, grabbed him, and slapped him (figuratively) into a cage! HA! I OUTSMARTED HIM! That's not saying much about me...
