Falling Down Heights, my daily life

When I get those, typically they just grow into blue birds
Really? I hope not! The feathers growing in aren't blue but we know that these will change in time...

I may have made a pleasant mistake! Remember when I said that 5 out of the 6 Chantecler I got were cockerels? Well, I'm starting to think that one or two of them may be pullets!

After my OEGB got snatched through the bars by a raccoon, I moved the remaining one and the two Chanties to other digs. The Chanties went to the larger coop where I have four hens presently. I know I know, I shoulda done an introduction first, but this was kind of an emergency.

Anyhow, watching them today I noticed that they were acting very 'pullettish'. One especially. Looking closer, I saw no male-type feathers on the one, and still undetermined on the other.

They are so difficult to sex! Those cushion combs and lack of wattles makes it even harder. I was mostly basing my guesses on chonky legs, lol!

Horrid weather. The remnants of Debbie mixed with a low pressure front. So, more mud.

Baby bunnies (yes yes, trying to get pictures, they wiggle around too much!) have become adventurous now that their eyes are open. They have learned how to get out of the nest box.

Probably going out today in the horrible rain. Piking up a new rabbit (doe) as well as running errands. FINALLY got my brakes fixed! So shiny!

Kids have been kicked out! Well, most of them. The Brahmas are still inside, and Lone Chick Rudy, plus two Musnagers because one has a wry neck that I was unable to get to in time and his friend so he isn't lonely, but all the 5 am crowers are OUT! Maybe tomorrow morning I can sleep!

Got a couple of bales of straw today to help the poor birds. My white chickens are GRAY! Still need more, but it was all I could afford right now.

But while I was at the feed store, I noticed they had a list of names under the title Chicken Plucker. I asked how much to rent it, and they offer it for free to regular customers! Took the next available date, which is Oct 19th (they only lend it out on weekends). I know they aren't great on ducks, but it'll be a heck of a lot better/easier than plucking them all by hand, or skinning them!
