Faverolles Thread

I hope u find someone but also in the future I will be selling fertile eggs so maybe I can ship some over there in the future also I dont have full bred right now because where I have my faverolle is where I keep my bantys and my main rooster is my silkie rooster.

I currently do not own an incubator :( I don't plan on buying one anytime soon either since it is the end of the hatching year. I have wanted Faverolles for.... maybe about two years now. I scan local papers, craiglist, hooblym you name it, LIKE A MAD WOMAN!

I saw them one time in person and I regret not buying them still!

I would prefer to have the large guys and gals since I already have bantams in other breeds. Oh... One day it may come true for me!

Does anyone know if the Faverolles at mypetchicken.com are of good quality stock?

For the love of Faverolles! I wish I could find some locally to buy here in Ohio. I have been searching for quite sometime with no luck!

I am attending the Nationals in Lucasville Ohio in October... I might be able to bring you a good bloodline (Boulanger) spare cockerel, and I am sure you can find others who have some extra pullets. I do have one nice looking girl, but she came from my Mahogany pen so I cannot vouch for what she will produce, however it is possible she came from my dark Salmon hen when I first put her in with them, and since she is from the oldest batch of babies it is also possible she is pure Salmon. If you are just looking for pretty pets that could be worked with they will be great. The boy is also from a pullet producing roo/pen, so he will be lighter. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

I selected 3 pullets out of 51 from MPC stock, they were dark, smallish, and carried side sprigs. However they were much friendlier than my show line birds, were heavier/meatier, laid far better (although egg size and color could have been better), and overall seemed much hardier- never minding foul weather and not getting off track egg wise from it. That was back in 2009, one of my birds carries 1/4 of the the MPC blood, but most have 1/8th or less now. They have given some of the meat traits back into my line, and have improved vigor and color as well... but the 51 were all over the place for type, quality and color. I am pretty sure the 3 girls I picked were closely related as they were carbon copies of each other... but there was a reason I had to go through 51 of them to find them. The feet and beards on the MPC chicks made it easy to get down to 25 to raise out rather than all 51. Lots of fused/missing toes, poor beards, and there was one tailless chick, they were super healthy and vigorous chicks though.

almost forgot...my Avitar, is Junior, who is 1/8th MPC line bred back to Boulanger cockerel. My first crossing produced nothing but meat cockerels, second the same, but the third generation produced this guy. He is the ONLY percentage cock bird I have ever kept, (and sadly I lost him to heat stroke) as I have always selected pullets and sold the higher percentage moms for layers each year. All of next years breeders will be either pure Boulanger or 1/16th MPC bred back to Boulanger, and I will also have 2 pens with Merlin Legacy stock.
