I'm addicted enough through the local library. A paperback swap sounds like a dangerous thing. But I have heard of a group that leaves books on trains and subways with a website stamped inside. Anyone who reads the book is supposed to log on, tell where they found the book and where they left the book. never saw one of the books, but I thought it was a cool idea!
A 'Where's George' for books.

These are the ones I can think of right now, but there are many more.

James Lee Burke (the Dave Robicheaux mysteries)
Elizabeth Kostova
Harper Lee
Marjorie Kinnan Rawling
Pat Conroy
Diana Gabaldon
Herman Wouk
Anne Tyler
Alice Hoffman
Jane Smiley
Phillipa Gregory
Gregory Maguire
The Bronte Sisters
L.M. Montgomery
Daphne du Maurier
John Irving
Larry McMurtry

My favorite author is Mark Twain, because of his writing style . . . people can relate but he doesn't have to dumb down his writing to do so. But I mostly like his short stories; he didn't write any of my favorite books, like Pursuit of Love by Nancy Mitford.
