What are you getting all angry about? The things a broiler, it's destined to be eaten. So it's more humane to let it grow then eat it? Think of it this way, less cleaning you have to do! Perspective Perspective Perspective

That's just it. If its a Brahma, it is NOT a Broiler. They are about the slowest growing, least feed efficient birds you can imagine. In fact, if there is a slower growing, less feed efficient bird, I can't think of it, nor find it on any common reference charts.
Also, white feathering is preferred for broilers - cleaner carcass. Again, that's not the direction this bird seems to be headed.
A better question might be, "Why the complaint, it was an extra?" except the OP doesn't seem to be complaining, but rather expressing curiosity as to breed identity.

@MulberryBend is what Assortment did you buy? Generally, the "extra" chick in a shipping box is at least similar to what's in the rest of the box, so if you get the BBQ Assortment of various Cornish, maybe you get a leghorn as well, but more likely you get another cornish - and if you get the frypan special of male leghorns, your extra is probably another male leghorn variety, but might be a cornish variety. And if he got a feather footed assortment, chances are the extra would have feathered feet... That's just the way the Hatcheries do business, though of course mistakes are made.
and MM doesn't stock a ton of feathered breeds. (Light, buff, dark) Brahma, (Black, Blue, Buff, White, SL) Cochin, (white, copper, partridge) Faverolle, (Black, White) Langshans and Sultans as full size birds.
