Feather Footed Mystery Chick

I went back to the first page, apparently I missed the original post.

But the close view of the comb still appears to be a single comb to me. It's head is nice, & broad causing a slight separation on each side of the comb. I see this with my Orpingtons with extra tiny combs.

Here are some screenshots of the different variations of Partridge Down.

Huh. I just got a Dark Brahma from TSC. Granted it could have been mislabeled, but they primarily get chicks from Hoover’s (right now anyway, when they had the tower brooders they were getting them from somewhere else), and Hoover’s does have partridge Cochins but only as part of an assortment. They were definitely not in an assortment.

WOW!

and yeah, TSC is famed for mislabelling birds, but that's an awful lot of brown in a bird that should be black and white...

Also, TY for the excellent photo.

It's either a partridge Cochin or a dark Brahma. To me the comb looked pea. Be an easy ID in a few weeks as both comb types will grow totally different.

Cochin *should* have feathers down that middle toe. Even poorly bred day olds usually have them. That was part of my basis as well.
