I will do that then. It seems to be going well. When her wound completely scabs over I will put her with the others

How is she? Is she eating/drinking o.k.?
How is your coop/run set-up? If she's "isolated" away from the other chickens as she heals, you may need to introduce her slowly. Chickens can be a pain at times and introducing a "new" chicken into the flock, they can be all kinds of nasty. Yep, even to ones that they "grew up" with

She's doing great! Our coop does not yet have a run for them. It is a pretty large coop, probably 10'x10' if I had to guess. Probably a bit small without the run. We are working on building a mobile pen for them so that we can move them to greener pastures when their area is picked at too much. We let her into the flock today, to see how they would get along. Amazingly, she has moved up the pecking order and is asserting dominance over some of the other chickens. She was the first to rush to treats tonight (scrambled eggs for a protein boost as she was observed eating loose feathers...)

She used to always be the last to get treats, and would hang out as far from us as she could, sometimes coming in to take a peak but not a taste of whatever yummy thing the other chickens were eating.

I am surprised at how well the reintroduction went, though we are planning on keeping a close eye on her for the next week or so. Thank you for the advice! We will definitely consider it if they decide they want to pick on her (or another hen) after this.

Chickens are surprising at times, sounds like she gained confidence while being separated - sometimes that happens! Good for her.

Here she is today. Scab is looking really nice and healthy as far as I can tell. She's still full of energy. Seems like a happy and healthy chicken. I am lucky that her injury is well covered by feathers, as so far we have not had issues with other birds seeing and picking at her.
