I currently have 2 Marans crosses set (due 13 Feb) as a fertility test, 12 cream legbar due 20 Feb, and if they turn up tomorrow as expected, I'll have 22 various laced wyandotte bantams and 10 LF black brahmas due 24 Feb.

I can't wait!

Well both broodys still sitting tight ,I have to throw them off everyday for 10 mins to poop.I haven't candled them since day 8/9 I am afraid there would be nothing there , what's the chances of none hatching? day 21 is Sunday so should I expect them from sat ? This is starting to get nerve wrecking. If they are under a broody how do you know if they are in trouble ?

Just an update

I'm not really sure how great this hatch is going to be though, due to the incubator lid falling off for an unknown amount of time. I'm not going to candle before lockdown like I usually do to give them the best chance. Good luck to everyone else!!
Would it be funny-weird if I heard peeps this early ( roughly midnight Day 13.5 ) ???

That'd be pretty weird... anyone know if they even have developed beaks yet? lol

I'm sure theres a thread about embryo development somewhere...

I set 7 call duck eggs in a Brinsea MiniAdvance EX last night. Got five more I will set tonight in another, which still has chicks in it. Gotta clean it out & up and get these eggs set. I have a MiniAdvance NON-EX 'bator free, but want these precious eggs to have all the best support with the humidity pump.

Currently in lockdown with 16 mixed "designer" breed chicken eggs (mutts) in an Octagon20 Advance EX, and 10 other eggs in another Octagon20 Advance EX a little bit further out from hatching. Plus 24 eggs not yet shipped from an eBay seller.

So I have Feb pretty well locked up for hatching.

I'll be setting 25 (I plan for 2 doz, even, but you know how it is

) Superbowl Sunday. They'll hatch a week before my birthday!!!!

They'll be mutts, mostly just crossbreds, (except my purebred EEs

) But I've some serious mutts that I can't wait to see how they turn out! Ohh soo excited!

Also, I'm trying the dry method after a diasterous last hatch in July. It was my third hatch and I really do think I had waayyy too much moisture. Only got half to hatch

Tonight is day 7 in my homemade incubator! 7/9 have veins and I saw movement in 3 tonight! When I see movement, what exactly am I seeing? The little peep floating around, her heart rate, involuntary movements? And the two I haven't found veins on, were they probably unfertilized? I took a more precise temperature reading last night and I am amazed my DH managed to get the bater with almost the exactly correct temp without hardly knowing anything about incubators at the time. Good job DH!
