OK, I haven't been out to the coop yet but the things on this list that I have noticed are… She's not laying, she sits when others don't, she hangs out alone sometimes, (seems to want to be near me), she roosts longer than others, paler comb and wattle, weight loss. Here is a copy and paste from a thread of mine:
Step one is to determine how sick the bird is. When outside, how does it look, sound and act? Stand back in a place where they can't see you and watch them. These are the signs I look for:
- Weight loss in adult birds and youngsters
- Lack of weight gain in youngsters
- Standing with eyes closed
- Discoloration or change of comb, wattles or caruncles
- Swelling in abdominal cavity
- Excessive sneezing or yawning
- Wings drooping
- Fluffed feathers
- Head tucked in
- Wobbly gait or limping
- Not interested in food/treats
- Not drinking
- Not roosting
- Roosting early
- Roosting longer than others
- Hanging out alone
- Vocal changes
- Behavioral changes of any type
- Sitting when others are not
- Panting or open mouth breathing
- Abnormal droppings
- Nasal/eye/ear discharge
- Facial swelling
- Raspy breathing
- Change in egg shells
- Change in laying habits
Can you take her to a vet?OK, I haven't been out to the coop yet but the things on this list that I have noticed are… She's not laying, she sits when others don't, she hangs out alone sometimes, (seems to want to be near me), she roosts longer than others, paler comb and wattle, weight loss.
you had said to give her an examination? What do I look for? The last exam I gave her she looked normal as far as feathers growing back, no sign of any bugs. that's what made me think it must be something internal. But could all this could be caused by molting?
