Here is a pic from google of the colouring I would also like my ferret to have:

A bit impracticle though, as I live in Australia!
From what is around he will probably end up looking more like this:

Or this:

These are also available to me, but I don't at all like this type:

I also love these:

If you were going to get ferrets just be careful and besides where would you get one? The things are hard to buy! Mind that thought seeing as only the other day I saw some in the local pet store but even still be careful what you wish for. Getting ferrets could be a brilliant move but they could also be a terrible move

I had 2 ferrets for 8 years. I loved them. Mine never bit, they played with the cats and dogs. They were good. My cousin had one as well who was kind of a turd but was good overall lol. He would drive around with his loose in the car and take it to everyones house, she was never ever caged. everyone loved her (Carol) she got loose once and survived 3 days out in the wild, it was raining when she walked up to the front porch to be let in.

I never had to go to the vet for the ferrets, they never got a shot.

Nothing against it, I haven't needed to take mine to vet yet because he is still under 1 year. However, your dogs and cats (if you have any) can also catch distemper from the ferret that can catch it from your clothes or germs in the air you bring home with you from other infected pet (at pet stores, rescue/shelter etc.) It would be really sad if you ferret, cat and dog all died. Nothing against your choice not to though. Very cute furbaby!

I had a ferret for awhile, and ended up giving him away. He smelled awful!! I had just gotten my first chickens at the time, he got loose for a day or so and I was terrified he was going to eat my birds. He apparently didn't make it outside, but the stress was quite enough for me! And that smell.... ughhhh

If you ever plan on brooding chicks indoors with a ferret in your house, well, good luck sleeping at night lol

Alright, my turn to chime in. I'm not sure why all these people that don't have ferrets are being so negative! Ferret's are very loving and loyal companions. They're best to get as baby's and they calm down quickly at a young age (by this I mean grow out of the nippy puppy stage). I got my ferret when he was VERY young from the spca for $50. He already had all the vaccinations he needed and I already had a cage for him. I spent a low amount of money to get ferret food, a hammock, ferret shampoo and a leash. I got cat toys (ferret safe) from the dollar store and he loves them. (Balls with bells in them). I got my ferret younger than most people are capable than getting them but it was an awesome thing to have accidentally have happened. I'd recommend, the younger the better. There are many different ferret colorings. My ferret is a 'sable mask' ferret. The ferret's you showed above are in order, dark polecat, lilac, chocolate (or sable mitt), albino and the last one is called black (or dark) eyed ferret. They're great pets but get board easy so be prepared to entertain. Use a proper cage and they'll never escape. Here's some pictures! BTW toys are very easy for ferrets. A box full of empty water bottles or a plastic bag are a world full of fun for hours. IMG_0357.PNG IMG_0358.PNG IMG_0353.JPG IMG_0355.PNG IMG_0356.PNG IMG_0352.JPG

How do peoples ferrets get lose?! I keep mine in just a normal rodent/ferret/bunny cage and he's never gotten out except for when parents didn't latch door shut correctly. Even then he didn't hurt any of my animals. Just scared the family when he came running up the steps from downstairs!
