I have changed my plans to put my quail outside for various reasons. For now they are hanging out inside. They do stink a bit but not more than I can handle. I clean the cage a couple times a week. I have always had quail outside so smell has never been a huge concern. I have read on here that ACV in their water and/or fermented feed can improve digestive health and reduce smell. I've seen people say 1 tsp of ACV with the mother per gallon of water once a week and 1:1 feed to water ratio with a 24 hr fermentation time. Do you do both or one or the other? I feel the science behind them are similar with the fermenting and probiotic aspect so dont want to overdo it for my little ones just for some minor convenience for myself. What has worked for others?

Plain water is better, imo.

I tried fermenting feed for my quail at one time but it was just too messy.

We keep our quail indoors. I noticed the smell was much better with FF & ACV. I tried just FF for two weeks. Yikes! I’m adding the ACV today.
