I am new to the forum, and in my reading I see many people losing eggs in the last few days. I have my first batch of incubator eggs hatching March 16th 2019 and now I am worried. I candled the eggs and everyone seems to be alive and well. We are now in the final 3 days and I don’t want to lose them! I have the incubator at 48%-52% humidity and 38C temp. I know that I need to raise the humidity, but I have also read threads about lowering it! What will give my little chickens the best chance? Also, when can I take them out of the turner? Thanks Everyone

Welcome to BYC.

Raise humidity. The reason is that when the chicks are hatching, you want the membrane exposed by the missing eggshell to remain nice and moist, instead of drying out so that they can't move.

When I used an incubator, I generally didn't start raising humidity until day twenty, or until I could hear peeping from the insides of the eggs, but I was also a kid and able to monitor the entire hatch. Most people recommend raising at day nineteen, in case of an early hatch.

You needn't turn eggs after day fourteen, so you can take them out of the turner now.

Thank you! I assumed so about the humidity, I thought it was strange the people dropped it. But if it works for them that’s great . I will begin to raise the humidity shortly and remove the turner tonight, my incubator says raise to 60% last two-three days, does that make sense? Hopefully the little ones make it

60%'s good.

Good luck.
