How is Finn today?

He's good! Did some more scent work training today, and it's coming along well. He had a couple good runs where you could tell he caught the scent and worked his way closer to find it.

Do you have a plan for using the scent work in some way? Or just more training/working with Finn? He sounds so awesome, by the way.

Competition! There are AKC Scent Work titles that you can earn. I'd like to get his Container Novice (finding the scent in one of 10 identical cardboard boxes) and Interior Novice (finding the scent in a fake room setup in a small area) at least.

Or just more training/working with Finn? He sounds so awesome, by the way.

I also like it for bonding and mental stimulation, but I really picked it up for competition.

Thank you! He is such a good dog, I'm so happy to have him. We definitely made some mistakes with his socialization, so I have some issues to work on (nothing bad like fear or reactivity, he just gets overexcited around other people and dogs), but I'm really happy with how training is going with him.

sit pretty is one he's pretty good at but i need to work on adding distance to it.

How does one teach that

it's not very good for baby puppies to hold it for too long, but basically have her sit and then lure up and back so that her front paws are off but she's still sitting on her butt
then gradually increase duration and add a cue and hand signal
