Its day 20-21 and despite problems with the temperature and humidity I have my first chick out. I had the temps spike to 104 twice and 107 once. I went into lockdown with 17 shipped Dorking eggs and 5 of my own mixed breeds. All of the shipped eggs looked good. And the air cells on mine looked good but are too dark to see anything of the chicks. the first chick is a Dorking. These were really good shipped eggs. out of 18, only 1 didn't develop. I had no loose air cells either. I was really lucky on shipping.
Here's hoping for a good hatch. I hear another peeping.

I have another one out, one of my mixed breeds. There are two pips I can see another of mine and another Dorking. The latest one is so loud!
I'll post pictures when they are done hatching and in the brooder.

I see I had 18, not 17 Dorking eggs and 5 of mine going into lockdown. Six babies are out! Here are pictures of them in the incubator. I'll wait till tomorrow to take anyone out.

They are so cute!! Congrats on the little peeps!
I just set four in an incubator. This is my first time trying to incubate... Hope they make it...
Keep us updated!

Good luck on your hatch. Its very rewarding hatching your own eggs.
So far I have 17 that have hatched. I moved 14 into the brooder this morning and they are eating and drinking.
One chick died after pipping. It was a freak accident where the other chicks knocked the egg pip and beak first into one of the sponges. The chick drown before I found it.
I have one egg that has pipped and four more that are still waiting. All of my cross breeds hatched and so far out of 18 of the shipped eggs I have 12 healthy little chicks with at least one more on the way.
What a great hatch! considering all the problems I've had keeping the temperature stable, I was afraid I wasn't going to hatch anyone at all. This has been a very pleasant surprise.

The Hatch is done.18 shipped Dorking eggs went into lock down and produced 12 healthy chicks. All five of my mixed breeds hatched. A very successful hatch. The Dorking chicks are a mix of white, silver, red, colored and fawn.
Here they are!
