At 26 weeks and 3 days, I have my first egg! The girls have been squatting for weeks now, and I thought I wasn't going to get any eggs this year at all with the days getting shorter, but here we are. I have 2 separate flocks, 3 Production Red and 3 Barred Rocks in the first flock, and a mix of 18 and 13 weeks in the 2nd flock, so I'm not expecting eggs from them until next year.

I'm pretty sure one my Barred Rocks laid this egg, because she was the source of the egg song as I peeked outside.

It's so awesome, now I gotta wait for the others to start laying, and that seems to be coming pretty soon.

Congrats!! At least your's is laying. Mine have stopped, but then we are here in PA where the temps are now colder, so it's no surprise. No eggs here, just molty hens that look pretty ridiculous right now. :)

An update:

Well, the hen that laid her first egg seems have set of a chain reaction, and now I have at least 2 more layers, or maybe more since I've gotten 3 eggs a day for the past 2 days. Most of them have been in the nest box, while I've found 2 in their run. So far, they've tasted great!
