First Hatching!

Up the temp 1.5 degrees next incubation and you'll have great hatch rate. If you use same equipment and measure in same area that's about how far it was off. You'll see people constantly purchasing new and multiple hygrometers and thermometers when what they should do is use the same equipment and adjust the incubator. Changing reference devices is starting over rather than learning and calibrating how to use what you have. Each hatch your success rate goes up significantly by tweaking what was done previously.

Thank you. I had the temp set at 100.00 but after I was half way done with my incubation I read that since I have a still air incubator I should have had it higher. There are a few eggs left that haven't hatched. I noticed movement in 1 of them today. We are considering water testing the others before giving up on them. I have a total of 9 live chicks right now. One of the ones that hatched today appears okay when looking at it but is breathing heavy still so hopefully he will be fine once he is rested as he seemed to struggle just a little hatching. I want to get some silkies and add them to my flock soon!

I moved him to the cooler side of the Brooder and he already seems a little better. Maybe he was just to hot? He was breathing (at times) by opening his beak. Hopefully this works.

Don't put them in water. Just do a good candling with a good light. If you see clear area up near the membrane next to the air cell, then they have quit. If the air cell is misshaped, it may be drawn down and the chick is in hatching position, put it back in the incubator.
