First lockdown!! couple questions.

I found a time between pips to move some out. I will probably do the same this evening. The switch took me about 20 seconds. Humidity and temperature were back in 5 min

Nine little chicks all snug under their Momma heating pad. We had one acting weak. We got her eyes to open with a warm washcloth and after a good drink of water she perked up a bit.

How long do I wait for the others. There is a pip in the middle of one of these eggs, but it hasn't moved all day and the pip is in the wrong place. The eggs to the right were marked as questionable, So I'm not surprised. The ones on the left all showed life at day 18 candling. Tomorrow morning will be the beginning of day 22.

Should I be doing something at this point other than trying very hard to be patient?

They say patience is a virtue. (I wouldn't know, I don't have much.

All you can do is wait, so may as well get some sleep - it will go faster that way!

Btw very inventive crate modification! May do something similar! For first few days I have XL storage tubs but if all goes well I'll have over 30 chicks, but im home full time and helpful children that are very excited.

Sadly, no more have pipped.

I wish I had known about the shipped egg issue before I purchased. I will do the float test tomorrow and then I'll do this again next week with some local eggs!

Thanks for the crate compliment. I don't think I could house 30 in there though! I plan on moving the crate to the coop with the big girls next week sometime.

I LOVE the Momma heating pad. Last time I just bought chicks from the farm store. This has been a totally different experience. These chicks haven't been sorted through, prodded, boxed or shipped. They all seem so much calmer around me. And now with Momma heating pad, there are no artificial lights to mess with their internal clock. I learned about this from this thread.

congrats on the 9! any more? My lock down starts tonight, only have 3 unconfirmed and 21 with movement as of the 16th. Going to candle again tonight!

That's a great link! Thank you! I may candle and float late tonight. I'll let you know what I find. I'm not terribly optimistic.
