First time duck owner

I have 1 peking and 2 khakis. The female khaki is the most skiddish. All three will eat out of my hand and I can pick them up to check them out without issue. I expect nothing else.

So happy!!! It does take patience but is more then rewarding when they do what you want them to!

Picking them up is a different story. They still seem to think i am some kind of murderer...... anyhow. I dont really mind if they dont like me picking them up, just so long as they forgive me.

Yep we just have to accept the fact they love us from a distance and we have to live with them on their terms.

I’m so glad they are warming up to you. I have 2 Pekins - 1 drake that I’ve had since a week old and 1 duck that was 3.5 months old when I got her. They are about 7.5 months now. They will both sit in my lap while I pet them - when they decide to allow it lol!

I have a drake that follows me around begging for hugs and kisses, but that isn't the norm. I had to take him from hatch as my duckling so he sees me as his mama. None of the rest want to be touched or held. All my Muscovy's eat out of my hand and a few of my Runners and Buffs will but that is it, I am okay with that. I have some chickens who will jump in my lap for a snuggle and I have 4 dogs so if I want to love on something and I also have a dh who fits in there somewhere. lol
