First time hatching eggs

Thank you, I didn't chose that many eggs that was how many she had when she stopped laying. Maybe next time I will make it less. And I will leave them longer, they all look fine at the moment none smell bad x

Always a good sign.......Update with progress.......I will be waiting and watching for your replies!

Hi!! I just hatched a baby black Japanese chick 10 hours ago... he's doing great but came stand or walk yet. He seems fine otherwise.. very vocal and trying so hard to stand.. it's not a straddle problem..his legs and feet are straight out in front of him... weird.. he tries to stand and walk but ends up just flapping around in circles.. does anyone here know how I could help this baby?? Or what would cause this?? Anyone else ever have this happen??

Had one hatch like that last night. Sometimes it just takes them a little longer to get their feet under them, but I gave a couple drops of nutridrench, straight from the dropper, and mine was fine this morning.
If the legs start spraddling out to the sides, google "splay leg" or "spraddle leg".

Thanks! At least I finally found someone that has/had a similar issue.. He seems to have just now started standing a little bit but then wobbles and falls into a sitting position..it's almost like he's sitting up like a dog.. lol.. .so I'm gonna give him some more time to hopefully adjust correctly on his own. Any advice is always greatly appreciated. :)

I also find that they do that more when their bellies are more swollen, if they absorb the yolk slowly, and hatch quickly. Kinda like it weights their back-end down and they can't get up. :D

I'd definitely rather see them straight out front, than out to the side, or clinched up tight to their chest. ;)

And I apologize, my brain skipped right over you saying it wasn't a spraddle problem! Lol

Lol.. thats ok.. you know..his belly does feel really fat and mushy.. lol.. he seems strong tho and a trooper.. i just feel so sorry for him.. he sits up on his butt with his little feet out in front...looks like a mini penquin. . I've attached a pic.. lol
