First time hatching eggs

I'm going to tractor supply tomorrow to get the same stuff that you used for your chick.. how much did you give yours?

Cute pic! And I have another one now, that hatched a few hours ago :barnie

A couple of drops straight from the dropper, maybe 3 different times. Follow it with clear water.

And just a tip... Squeeze the dropper bulb as empty as you can, it will still drip enough for the chick to get a drop or two. That stuff is strong smelling and messy when the chick shakes its head. :gig

How old is your hen? I'm wondering if it has to do with mine being early eggs from a young pullet.

This stuff

Ok thanks.. my hen is about 7 or 8 months old.. i got her in June of 2016 at 2 days old.. your not going to believe this.. my own stupidity. .. the chick that we've been talking about fell into the water dish... i caught him in time but he was soaked.. i dried him immediately and held him in a warm towel until he dried.. this poor guy ....i tell ya.. i hope he doesn't get sick from this.. i feel so stupid now for not putting marbles in the dish..

Wow, Glad you caught him in time! Hope he's doing well now!! :)

you could have used a blow dryer, gently, on a low, warm speed. Mine gets pretty hot, so I cup the chick in my hand, and blow toward my wrist and let the warm air flow up to the chick. Or just pass it quickly over the chick.

And now your username is even more fitting :gig. j/k

Just to update, she kicked 2 more out of the the nest today so I cracked those and there was no sign of development af all, that's 3 now so I suspect the rest are the same or could she be kicking them out because she knows they are no good?

I do believe that hens know good ones from bad ones. U think she can feel them move thru the shell. Vibrations or whatever. Have you tried candling them?

I have and I can't really see anything in them, but it's my first time so I don't know if I'm missing something. I am going to wait until day 14 and then candle again as surely it should be pretty obvious by then when I candle
