Thank you!! I assumed they were meant to be planted cause they had roots  some of the plants didn’t that I saw. Maybe that’s why they all look weird haha
These and java ferns are rhizome plants that are best anchored to structure....they *can be "planted" in that their roots can anchor into substrate but the rhizome needs to stay above ground, so anchoring the root ends by tucking down in or weighting down

Stem plants often have no roots at purchase...you clip the ends back a bit to stimulate them and stick them down in the substrate, roots develop (when they get too tall just cut some off and plant, now you have more plants.
Runner plants (valisnerias, cryptocyrnes, etc) reproduce by sending out runners and new plants pop up from under the substrate along the runners, you can clip the runner and move plantlets as you wish.
Swords, etc put out long stems up into the water and plantlets develop all along it...as roots get going clip each plantlet free and plant

Thank you so much!!! This was all really helpful!!! I guess I do need to put the wood in there after all haha

And this might be a really stupid question but do you happen to know what plants I have or which ones are which? I have no idea.

I know the pictures aren’t the best but maybe a general idea?

These are the two packages I got but I have no idea if I got everything or not haha and also I think anacharis is illegal here so they may have substituted with something. Actually, there’s a lot of possible substitutions for all of them haha each one lists 2 or 3 possibilities instead of definite plants 😂 :th

Anyway, I have no idea what most of them look like so I’m guessing. I think I know what some are but others have no idea.

So maybe someone could take a look at both of the links and the pictures tell me what I might have gotten?? That would be a huge help. And sorry I am such a noob. :lau :th

Totally meant to reply yesterday, but got busy....let me get home where I have a bigger screen and I'll give it a shot

Hi Mare, its good to hear you . Been a while. Did you see the light I bought? It says encourages plant growth but I just have my doubt

‪Ultimate relaxation right now. Sitting here with a purring cat on my lap and watching my fish swim around his planted tank 😍😍

Meant to post these earlier but totally forgot. 😂🙈

But my plants are starting to come back to life!!! Notice all the green!? 😁

And I’m glad I planted all the little tiny babies too and didn’t just throw them out because they are growing like weeds too. :D

And note the new lily pad things too? And all the shoots and GREEN!? :D :love 😍

Nice! I've never had the best luck with plants. I have a java fern that's been going for about four years now and that's about the longest-lived plant I've had.

The baby betta I named Big Chonk is so big now it actually looks like a proper betta! About 3/4 of an inch long, which doesn't sound like much but considering they start at like 2-3 millimeters long it's quite an improvement! It absolutely loves waiting for food to be dropped so it can zoom around like an upside-down vacuum and suck it all off the surface :p. Little Chonk, however, is not doing great and I don't know why. I've gotten it isolated in a floating 'breeding box' to see if I can get some weight on it but I'm not terribly hopeful. Such a shame.

Weirdly enough the three tiny babies that survived velvet in the other tank appear to all be doing quite well.
