Just gave penny 2 four HR old babies to keep for herself and stop her broodiness. We had 5 of 11 hatch today and rest are set for a day away, it's still freezing here though so I figured I'd give her two smalls to console herself and 2 less for me to look after as I know she cant fit the whole bunch in this weather. lets hope they're ok come morning! Luckily, at least judging by the roos attitude around our pullets, I know he will be very pleased when Penny shows up whith chicks in the next day or two should everything work out fine tonight. Also: Guppy and Sexy are still fine! Guppy hasn't feathered or grown further but continues to eat and act as a normal chick :/

Aww she looks so determined! She will make a great mumma! Omg you lot are making me want chicks sooo bad!

I might have missed something along the way but... are you building your coop or buying? I take it Jason's something of a handyman?

My partner Jordan lol. Yes he is really handy. He makes airplane parts.
Yeah im saving to build a bigger coop. The coop I have was from Ebay and its only rated to 8 chickens and my goal is 20 chickens well 22 but still. I got my little coop to see if I liked having chickens first then get more. So I love it so I told my partner im saving up to build one. So my goal is to save $3000 that should be enough for something nice.

Flock Update:
Got 2 eggs today and my ladies got a free range for 30 minutes. I was home late today but better then nothing.
I have to go buy a new feeder at some point. Jordan fixed the one I had for my girls then I go and pick it up to take upto the coop. Dropped it on the concrete and the whole thing broke. Not repairable. and to top it off. I was so sick yesterday I forgot to get meat out for dinner tomorrow.
So its meat pies for dinner.

Oops. I remembered the J & nothing else. We will do better... Yep, I have an ebay coop too because I knew if I waited on the man I could be waiting forever. Now we have the chickens he's determined to have a better coop. Jordan must be smart ~ & that should build you something super~dooper. My council maxs me out @ 12 hens, no roosters so I know my limits before we start. I ran a lot more than that when we didn't have neighbours. I would love more land... Are you far off your goal. We may be ready to start next week. Can't wait to get me some more chookies...

I think people think im crazy for the amount of care and love I put into my flock. My partner usto say what are you doing? Until one day I found the mortar and pestle in the sink. I said did you grind up some herbs? My partner says no. I said ohhh what did you use this for? He said I ground up the chick feed it seemed too big for them. From that point on he never mentioned me spoiling my chickens lol.

Im at $500 so far. But thats from the start of January so im going pretty good. Im on track at the moment as long as something doesn't happen and I need to use it. Touch wood that doesn't happen. Jordan wants to have it all completed in 1 weekend! He will have the crew of mates to heap but I said I don't want it rushed. I want a quality job. Not slapped together. But also. Ill then have to feed them all and put beers on which I dont mind but im not letting them drink until the days finished.
