that is theft, I hope the police do something. My dad had a neighbor of one of his fields whos cows got out and ate about 1/4 acre of corn, the guy who lives there told dad the cows were there for a couple days. My dad sued the neighbor for the current potential value of the corn that would have been harvested. You can file in small claims court, here that was the district magistrate. maybe you can get him to settle the case by returning the birds.

I am from NH and now live just acrosst the border in Maine but my parents still live there, I also work in the animal business and travel to NH every day. If I am able to find any info I will certainly contact you. HAVE HOPE!!!

update-birds have been found in labanon maine at a horse farm. i spoke with the man who refuses to let me pick them up! they are my birds! he knows it . he says they were dropped off to him as abandoned and ofcourse knows they werent as i told him everything he needs to know. he stated he will not give them back unless the police dept tells him he must. the state police are saying they wont get involved as it is a civil matter. so now my children feeling joy are once again in tears!. i have contacted the attorney generals office and ill let you know. i was advised not to contact the person who has the birds or it will be a case of phone harrassment!!!

Well, at least you know they are safe, and more than likely being taken care of. That's something. Can't believe that now this new guy won't give them back either without a hassle!!! It's like your birds have been stolen TWICE!!

Sounds to me like the guy that has them is in possession of stolen items. He could be in really big trouble for that. Especially now that he has been notified by you that you are the rightful owner. Sounds like he should also be involved in your suit.

They are stolen property. Lebanon has no police department (we have a house there). You need to get hold of the state police. If you had filed a police report when this first happened you'd be getting a better response from them now. Push the matter with them. This is a crime, it may be a pain in the you know what crime to them, but a crime it is. This guy doesn't live far from us up there, I can find his house if need be......
