I noticed this morning that both of my ducklings, about 3-4 weeks of age, had semi large lumps on the right sides of their necks lower toward the breast. After research, I came to the conclusion they both had ruptured air sacs and as a medical professional I treated with needle aspiration and withdrew liquid instead of air. I only did the procedure on one duckling then my husband said he thinks it could be her crop in which case you should not poke with a needle. She seems to be fine but I'm a little spooked that I may have caused damage. I need some advice or reassurance that I didn't worsen her condition. The lump did go down but her chest seemed to inflate. Please help!

The duck crop looks like the one on the left:

If you poked the crop with a small needle it will probably heal, but keep an eye on it. Can you post a picture of her inflated chest?

Sometimes when young like yours they can look like they swallowed a balloon their crop can get so big very normal.
LOL before I knew anything about ducks, including where their crop was, I thought both my babies had chest/neck tumors :lau Live and learn - and read BYC duck forum everyday! ;)

Lol, I thought she may have broke her neck or something because she fell off the porch the night before but she's doing great today!
