I totally understand the other people saying to put down an injured chicken. I don’t have anyone I am close friends with that owns chickens aside from my mom but when I talk to her she has never dealt with any of these things and takes the approach that it’s a chicken and it will either make it or it won’t. I don’t really share that same sentiment towards animals as her so she is of little help. I showed her pictures of my hen that was attacked by my dog (dog somehow unlocked gates and grabbed her, it was horrible) and she was like wow you brought that chicken back from the dead. I just figured if my chicken wanted to live and her legs, wings, head/neck were all okay then I just had to do my best, it’s been 3 weeks and still helping her get better but she is coming along well which I didn’t think would be the case but man chickens sure are hardy creatures.
I couldn’t help but laugh about your one year old touching everything lol. I have an almost one year old and it is so hard to try and take care of everyone some days let alone adding a chicken who needs attention into the mix, all of which rely on me! Lots of stress, but like you said wouldn’t trade it for anything. Thank you for the best wishes and same go out to you!
