I had heard that DE worked on insects with hard exoskeletons by going underneath the shell and drying it out, so I wouldn't think it would work on maggots.

Casportpony, yes I took a lot of time removing maggots this morning, and I'm checking again right after I post this.

I checked him really well, only found two I missed, but I'm going to keep checking all day. And I have him isolated, and away from flies. I found no wounds on him. SO..

My rooster is doing great! Just waiting until his wound completely heals to let him back out. I'm afraid he'll attaract flies again so I'm waiting as long as I possibly can. But his wound looks really good! I would say hes pretty much back to normal. He tried escaping the shed yesterday while my back was turned lol hes been crowing like normal too. I cant believe I saved him!

I planned to update yall when I let him back out to free range! But I'm just being cautious as to when I let him back out. Dont want another round of flystrike! I'll be sure to post a picture after I let him back out

You are right to be extra careful, we didn't put our boy back out until he was 100% healed. Meantime the cats seemed to get a big kick out of him crowing in the house LOL
