The frontrunner on the issues statewide, is that well known group based out of Washington D.C. that won't simply admit, they don't believe that animals are property. [If not property, then couldn't be owned, bought, sold, bred, raised, shown, exhibited, etc] They are saying one can't own X number of roos, because you might be a fighter. Same for dogs. Have also heard that due to organization getting Prop2 passed in CA re expanding the area for chickens (to allegedly spread wings), organization intends to pursue home bred chicks based on pathogens and salmonella concerns. Meaning more laws re chickens, incubation, selling. Currently no license is needed to sell eggs on small scale. Nor is there a lic needed to sell chickens on Craigslist. But give organization a little time, and that will be over regulated as well. They are working on it. And they have also the bill in Congress, to eliminate all non native species which covers so many animals, reptiles, birds, you wouldn't believe it. They have been trying that for several years, every year they just change the drafted bill.
Animal owners, small farms/breeders need to work together. When a warrant justifies force without the underlying probable cause, or if the magistrate has rubber stamped without even reading, you can see where this is, and has, gone. It is happening in many states, when you see all the so-called "raids" on this breeder, or that owner, or that animal rescue. Many of those animals are seized and re sold as rescued because the owner simply cannot afford to defend. Even innocent owners. I know of a case where the AC took poop, spread it in the house, then took photos and claimed it was already in there. I know a rescue lady that went to prison for more than 4years for having too many old dogs that were not in good condition. The main cause of this is that the big organization actively wants people snitching each other off, and they have a form (6 pg) just designed for that purpose. (It is aimed at dogs but can easily apply to a chicken, horse, cow, etc)
I see this stuff because I work on legal cases. Not making any of this up. When you dig and research you will find cases like Louisville KY, PA law which affects commerce, and illegal searches and seizure, including the mass killings of dogs. organization told the court that puppies should be killed, they cannot be temperament tested. Just don't believe what they say in the papers, much of it is just hyped to gain donations. Donate to local shelters or groups, not the big lobbying people who could care less about our animals, or shelter animals.
