Found bird eggs

The only non protected bird species in the USA are house sparrows (English sparrows), starlings, and feral pigeons. All other species of birds, including their feathers, eggs, etc. are protected in some way.

Whomever brought the OP these eggs didn't just find "abandoned" eggs in a nest. They found eggs in a nest and took them. They had no clue whether they were abandoned or not and probably weren't. People are idiots.

Probably the eggs have been out from under the mother too long at this point and are dead, but if you're determined, you could take the eggs to that place. I second the above idea that the parents probably hadn't abandoned them and were just off foraging.
The trouble with "abandoned" eggs is they usually aren't. The parents are oftentimes just off looking for nest material or food. You have to watch the nest for hours with no signs of the parents to be sure, and by the time you can be sure the eggs are abandoned, they've usually died of cold.
